What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We usually request the customer to provide photos of the item needing repair. If it is new construction we would require specs, drawings, or at least the dimensions and a detailed description of what needs to be done. For the best possible quote, it may be necessary for one of our representatives to come out to the property to look over the project.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Kevin Hawkins is a master mason with a Masonry Certificate from the Western Vocational and Technical Center located in Baltimore County, MD (1989). He also holds past affiliations with the Local 1 Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Union as well as the Georgia Masonry Association.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Kevin Hawkins enjoys working with his hands and follows a lineage of masons. After taking up the trade while attending high school, Kevin discovered he was gifted and skilled in the masonry arts.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We currently service many homeowners who are in need of masonry repair (such as brick mailboxes, cracks in joints, concrete repair and replacement, columns, and stonework). However, we are also available for small commercial projects, such as concrete pads, sidewalks, brick/block buildings, etc.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure you feel comfortable working with the contractor providing your service. (First Impressions are definitely lasting impressions). They should be willing to offer you exactly what it is you are looking for. They should also be able to spell out the details of your project and provide it to you in writing.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
The main question a customer should think through before talking to professionals about their repair project is..."Am I interested in quality craftsmanship or just a quick temporary fix to my problem?" Unfortunately the lowest bid does not always mean the best bid, especially when it comes to craftsmanship.
